Such a statement requires an example: what innocent subject are you
talking about?  So far the subjects mentioned in this thread have been
X11-related.

Re: 1#, see above.  Re: 2#, since some people *are* getting the error
messages, the problem is likely to be somewhere on the side of those
who aren't getting them.

I'm emailing you directly rather than on the cygwin list because this
discussion is IMO off-topic on the cygwin list, except perhaps if
every other avenue had failed.
