XWin.xe Application Error with -multiwindow

Under Thinkpad/XP Pro, using all the current downloads I often get a
popup window when closing my session using -multiwindow (with or without
including -engine 1), e.g.,
XWin -unixkill -emulate3buttons -clipboard -multiwindow &

XWin.exe - Application Error [in the title bar]
The instruction at "..." referenced memory at "0x00000000".
The memory could not be "read".

Also, perhaps it's my imagination, but it seems that recently my
x-windows sessions react much slower to typing and cut-paste operations?
I notice that my System CPU can climb to max even when invoking `less` of
`ls`, etc.  When pasting, if I type right *after* the paste mouse-click,
often my typing appears *before* the paste?
