help --help or some such

Hi.
When running Cygnus, and get --help on a command, say:
ls --help
the page scrolls right to the end of the description. (Try "diff --help"
for an acute example of this.)
How can I use "--help" so I get one page at a time? Or do I use another
command to get the same effect?
