Re: -mnocygwin

... but you may simplify the process by providing a proper input file:

---- start of gcc.input.txt ---
y
y
y
/usr/include
/usr/local/include

y
2
--- end of gcc.input.txt ---

% gcc foo.c < gcc.input.txt

I really appreciate this clean command line now

Yep. We removed -mno-cygwin along with the "-g", "-O", and "-I"
and all of the other options.

They were all just cluttering up the gcc command line, making it
hard to understand what is going on.

Now, gcc just prompts you for all of its options, i.e.

% gcc foo.c
gcc: do you want to produce an object file (formerly -c)? y
gcc: do you want to add debugging information (formerly -g)? y
gcc: do you want to produce an object file that does not rely o \
the cygwin dll (formerly -mno-cygwin)? y
gcc: enter any directories that you would like to search for include \
files (Press enter when done): /usr/include
gcc: enter any directories that you would like to search for include \
files (Press enter when done): /usr/local/include
gcc: enter any directories that you would like to search for include \
files (Press enter when done):
gcc: would you like to optimize the compiled code (formerly -O)? y
gcc: enter the level of optimization required: 2
etc.
