IIRC, perl 5.6.1 is considered "experimental".
You have to click on the "EXP" button in cygwin's
setup.exe list of packages to install perl.

Subject: what is the story of PERL on cygwin?
hi;
What is the suitation of perl on cygwin?
currently I was active perl, installed on c:\Perl, and I found some sort of
perl wrapper that sits in /usr/local/bin/perl (downloaded from cygwin utils
web site), which calls the windows perl.exe
windows perl is Active perl, downloaded from www.perl.org.
Is there a fully perl distro for cygwin? i.e. all build under cygwin?
Is this how everyone else uses perl under cygwin?
thanks,
Nasser
