I would like to contribute implementations of the openpty and forkpty
functions, so I can use them in porting some Unix software. However,
I'm not interested in becoming a major Cygwin developer.
Here's my problem. On the _How can I help out?_ page
(http://www.cygwin.com/contrib.html), you state:
# Finally, before you start modifying anything for real, you should
# probably join the cygwin-developers mailing list
Then, on the _Cygwin Mailing Lists_ page
(http://www.cygwin.com/lists.html), you state:
# Please do not join the cygwin-developers mailing list unless 1) you
# are thoroughly familiar with the cygwin DLL,
So--Do I have to be ``thoroughly familiar with the cygwin DLL'' in
order to submit the functions I need? Or does this not qualify as
``modifying anything for real''?
