maybe we could add the following 'tip' to the faq
Q) What preprocessor symbols does Cygwin define
A) Use the tool Luke :-)
% echo > jnk.c
% gcc -E -dM jnk.c
% gcc -mno-cygwin -E -dM jnk.c
% rm jnk.c
