I'm now convinced that "more" doesn't means better.. I searched:

Well, you're right... anyway, there was only 1 "good" solution
(http://www.cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2002-01/msg01395.html):

Let the W2K telnet server start the cygwin.bat file and in this file insert
the following line before the "bash --login -i" line:
echo thank you bill >nul
--------
