Tx for your reply Max,
Tried it with a Bourne shell (sh) on my Redhat AS2.1: works fine.
Tried it with a Bourne shell (sh) in cygwin : fails.
Works fine with bash on both platforms.
My workaround: added "#!/usr/bin/bash" in my cygwin script.
