X11 icons without stripes?

HallÃchen!
I use Cygwin under Win2k. When I start X11 apps remotely on a Linux
box through an "ssh -X" tunnel, their icons (e.g. in the taskbar)
have black horizontal stripes. Is there a way to get rid of them?
