Ah. As mentioned in the Windows install instructions (in the section
"Building the tools"), you should not use binary mode cygwin mounts.
John D: since you are already talking with the Cygwin people, perhaps you
can check up on what the default is here with the cygwin folks. If binary
mounts are going to be the default for cygwin now, this would be bad.
