[ECOS] problem in opening file

I am using ecos on linux. I am facing problem in opening file using 
fopen/fdopen.

doing
i386-elf-gcc -g -I /work/synth/synth_install/include/ trial.c -L 
/work/synth/synth_install/lib/ -Ttarget.ld -nostdlib

gives fllowing error

  ./a.out

: Couldn't open file ; No such entity

Could you suggest cause/solution of the problem.
