x86-64 works and passes the complete testsuite with the exception of
the linuxthreads/ex18 problem that I mentioned on libc-alpha.

But this didn't work in 2.3.1 either, so we're as good as before - and
in most areas we're better ;-).

So, feel free to go ahead.

A prerelease might be a good idea,
