Igor,

I don't understand your cygpath -u comment. It seems to behave correctly
no matter what I do.

I haven't looked into the implementation but doing ln -s 'c:\windows' win
works perfectly fine for me. Dos dir shows a win.lnk,
ls -l win shows the Windows path. 
Do you notice a problem when you try?
