As the generic build script is pretty wide-spread I definitely understand
that :)

Good idea - I'll be happy to check the different patches and it doesn't 
require me to have commit access :)

Once again, though: the "month of developer's time" doesn't start for another
three weeks. Before that, I won't be able to do much of anything as far as
Cygwin is concerned..
