setup 2.427 runtime error

I am having a similar problem. I am trying to install from a local
directory, after having copied the packages from cd to hard drive. set.exe
gets to the point where it parses (or appears to parse) setup.ini - then
quits abruptly with an error message to the effect that an error log is
being written.

Problem is - \etc\setup has no log file...so I can't even diagnose the
error. Any thoughts? (I'm using Windows 2000 Professional on a Toshiba
laptop) Thank you.

Regards, Pat Jones
