Yes, those are not needed in simple cases like this.

Taking modules/syslogformat/Makefile.am as an example, I would
add -module to the libsyslogformat_la_LDFLAGS variable. Then the
same for all other modules of course. Then send upstream and forget
about it, I don't see any reason for not adding -module for modules.
Adding to AM_LDFLAGS would not be the right thing when linking the
actual syslog-ng executable.
