  Yep: http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2007-02/msg00801.html, it's not extended
attributes as such but their use on FAT filesystems to store posix perms
(since there are no ACLs under FAT) that was deprecated.

  However there's nothing wrong with native NTFS extended attributes so we use
them to implement xattr support.
