I never got this message...or maybe my junk filters snarfed it.  In any 
case, I had no idea why all of the sourceware stuff was down, or why, or 
when it might come back up.  (However, I *was* smart enough NOT to send 
a query to the obviously defunct mailing list...unlike some.)  In my 
googling, I did find this somewhat apropo message, from an earlier event:

In any case, is there a "normal" place that admins tend to post 
announcement about open source sites during downtime, that I just don't 
know about?  With gcc.gnu.org down, I really expected to see something 
at newsforge or slashdot or freshmeat or something.  But nada.
