Actually I miscalculated the answer (42 = 0x2A = *):

W = 0x57 =  87
h = 0x68 = 104
y = 0x79 = 121
? = 0x3F =  63

87 - 104 + 121 - 63 = 41

So the correct answer is probably: 41 = 0x29
