Beginner's Problem

When attempting to install GCC only using, 

make install-gcc

I got the following message :-

make: *** [install-gcc] Error 2


Can anyone help ?

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has managed to re-build all the development kit 
under windows NT 4.0.
