Most fullscreen text-mode programs (like DOS EDIT or Borlands Turbo
Debugger) implement cut'n'paste themselfs or use the mouse in some other
way. To avoid interference, cut'n'paste in DOS boxes usually only works
through menu entries in the system menu (look for an edit menu there).
This is cumbersome but better than to enable it in all DOS boxes and so
disable some usefull text-mode applications.
