bash has problems with characters being out of order in type-ahead buffer

On Windows 98 using bash.exe in an MS-DOS prompt window, commands I type 
ahead of the prompt are usually messed up and misspelt. I cannot attribute 
all these errors to my poor typing abilities :).

Using version:

GNU bash, version 2.02.1(2)-release (i586-pc-cygwin32)

and pulled the binaries from your user.exe file.
