Hi,
Just for the heck of it, I downloaded the file in question (dev-src.tar.bz2) from:
ftp://ftp.ccp14.dl.ac.uk/ccp14/ftp-mirror/programming/cygwin/pub/cygwin/cygwin-b20/
and ran:
bzcat dev-src.tar.bz2 | tar -tvf -
It indexed the entire compressed archive without a hitch - a fairly good indicator
that a tar archive is consistent.
It's likely that your problem is a result of something like a non-binary ftp transfer
(size of dev-src.tar.bz2 = 25143664; sum dev-src.tar.bz2: 41452 1 on my system,
Cygwin CDv1), or something more local to your setup.
Regards,
Doug Wyatt
