problems running GNU screen on windows 2000, but not windows 98?

Why would this program work with Windows 9x and not with Windows 2000? Do I
have to authenticate or something on Windows 2000?

In case you don't know what GNU Screen is, it's described as a "terminal
multiplexor" by it's creators. See
