cp error -- oh the great sanity of *nix tools?!?

One advantage with open-source over Redmond's finest is that you can always
find the error message in the source code and submit a patch with a better
message.  I believe cp is in the fileutils package.

I vaguely recall similar problems being discussed in this list a couple
weeks ago.  A Google search will probably find them.
