./configure failing for gdb(i686)

hi,
I  am  doing   this  as  per  README  in /usr/src/gdb-20010428-3  for  an i686  build   but  it   doesn't get  through.
Has  anybody  experienced  this problem  I will  be  thankfull if  anybody  has  solved  this.
