sylpheed as a non-X application

Not sure if this is the right list but....

Currently I use X-free86 Cygwin only for sylpheed (my mail client).  I would like to be able to use it in an rxvt window.  Can someone tell me a) if this is possible, b) what libraries I would have to include/exclude from the re-compilation?
