linking problem, please help

Well, in your code:

I see one thing wrong.  The cout functions name comes from
the standard namespace, so you either have to add:

using namespace std;

or qualify the name, i.e.

std::cout

I don't know if that is causing your specific problem, but
I would give it a shot.  When I am compiling test code by
the way, I will just do

g++ test.cpp

and let it throw my code into a.exe, but I am also lazy.
