cygwin and w2k domain controller

Hello,
how can i generate a /etc/passwd file from a w2k domain ?
This is what i get if i call mkpasswd -d DOMAIN > /etc/passwd
mkpasswd [53]: network path not found
I'm running cygwin 1.3.10.
