pipe performance problem

Thomas,

I think that's unwarranted. You needn't be so pessimistic. You've done good
work in tracking down the source of an undesirable characteristic, but you
need to follow through.

Traditionally, the thing to do would be to write a single post (perhaps
under a new "Subject:" thread) in which you summarize the problem behavior,
the diagnostic work you did and the solution you propose to alleviate the
problem. In particular, you'll need to supply a patch script that will
allow others to replicate your results and evaluate whether there are any
potential problems with your solution that you're might be overlooking.

Bear in mind, too, that in the U.S. it's a holiday (an extended one at
that) and many people over here are either in the kitchen, at the dinner
table or maybe in front of a television set, and quite likely not near
their computers.

Hang in there.

P.S. Being the cranky old curmudgeon I seem to be, I still think you should
stick to conventional English capitalization. After all, it demands fewer
capitals than German, right?
