No, *BUT*, you said you tried "source ~/.bashrc", and this would be 
loading "/cygdrive/c/home/.bashrc", *not* 
"/cygdrive/c/home/pdavis/.bashrc".  I would suggest re-creating your 
/etc/passwd file from scratch.  Back up your current one and re-run 
setup (no need to install anything new).
