cygwin (HEAD): Current cygwin causes ls to return 4-5 lines of whitespace on WinME

Hi,
I'm getting some rather strange behavior with a post-20030428 cygwin.
First, for some reason, bash doesn't source the files in /etc/profile.d,
anymore. Secondly, and more strangely, an invocation of ls returns
about 4-5 lines of whitespace, instead of the proper directory listing.
Running strace shows that ls seems to be ack'ing the actual directory
contents, but the data gets lost somewhere in process of displaying the
result. This can be reproduced always and anywhere on my hdd, even
outside the cygwin root tree. The problem is, I don't understand what
is causing this, as the sources compiled on 20030427 were working
perfectly well. I've attached an strace & cygcheck (run using a
previous snapshot) for your reference.
As a side note, I'm also getting intermittent messages like this one
when running things like configure scripts:
119 [main] bash 978173 cygthread::terminate_thread: VirtualFree of
allocation base 0x2103FFA0<0x20E30000> failed, Win32 error 0
Cheers,
Nicholas
