Segmentation fault using OpenGL

OpenGL works in Cygwin exactly the same as in any other system
so this is assuredly another problem

I suggest that you run your program under a debugger to see what
your problem is.  

Hint - I would start by examing the arguments passed into the glTexImage2d 
call that is failing
