[Bug] 1.3.22-1 - rxvt & xterm displaying escape codes, cursor problems

Hi,
It sounds like you are running sh instead of bash,
Try running rxvt like:
  rxvt -e bash 
If that helps you can investigate /etc/passwd to see what it says your
shell should be, or look at $SHELL,
