With the latest cvs on WinME, the famous popup is back, at least in 
processes running under make.

I have also mentioned previously that since 1.5.7 hitting ^C during make
(building cygwin) causes the window to freeze. It's not quite like that.
Just after hitting ^C, ps shows

But after about 1 minute, and every minute thereafter, the defunct process
goes away and its parent becomes defunct. So after 2 minutes
