Maybe I'm being really dense, but the --from switch isn't quite 
working as advertised:

george@home ~/test
$ ls -ln
-rwxrwxrwx    1 544      513            48 Nov 17 03:59 testfile

george@home ~/test
$ chown --from=514:513 1008:513 testfile

george@home ~/test
$ ls -ln
-rwxrwxrwx    1 544      513            48 Nov 17 03:59 testfile
