Currently yes.  Applications that don't need a full blown Gnome desktop
should build (eg. GIMP, Dia, inkscape, conglomerate, sodipodi,
gnumeric).

There are some packages missing to run the desktop.  These will be 
uploaded as soon as packaging is finished.
