Is regtool -K option broken?

I tried using regtool's option to use a different key separator, but it
doesn't seem to work. Am I doing something wrong?

$ regtool  --key-separator='|' list |HKLM
Unknown key prefix. Valid prefixes are:
        root
        HKCR
        HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
        config
        HKCC
        HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG
        user
        HKCU
        HKEY_CURRENT_USER
        machine
        HKLM
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
        users
        HKU
        HKEY_USERS

$ regtool  -K'|' list |HKLM
Unknown key prefix. Valid prefixes are:
        root
        HKCR
        HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
        config
        HKCC
        HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG
        user
        HKCU
        HKEY_CURRENT_USER
        machine
        HKLM
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
        users
        HKU
        HKEY_USERS

$ regtool  -K'|' list \HKLM
HARDWARE
SAM
SECURITY
SOFTWARE
SYSTEM

Could regtool perhaps also report the actual unknown key prefix that
it's complaining about?
