gcc-java: gij broken?

I'm getting an exception here:  Exception in thread "main"
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld

> $ jikes HelloWorld.java && java HelloWorld

Yes, I see the same for the last four.  Maybe it is just plain not working?
