OpenGL does not render when linked with -mno-cygwin

I am using g++ Version 3.3.3 on a Windows XP box to write a program that
draws mathematical functions as graphs. The program works fine when I
compile and link without -mno-cygwin and the graphs are rendered fine.
However, if I add -mno-cygwin to the compile line and "-L/usr/lib/mingw
-lstdc++" to the link line, all I get is a black screen. I am using GLUT to
create the window and the menus and all of those work fine but there is
nothing rendered into the window. I do not get any errors either.

I do not get any compiler/linker warnings or errors when I compile with
-mno-cygwin. Are there any dependencies that OpenGL has with cygwin1.dll?
The link line uses the libraries in the order "-lglut32 -lglu32 -lopengl32"
which seems to be what the documentation says.

Here are the cygcheck outputs with and without mno-cygwin:

* With mno-cygwin:

mathgraph.exe:
  C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcrt.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\KERNEL32.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdll.dll
  C:\WINDOWS\system32\GLU32.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\OPENGL32.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\ADVAPI32.dll
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\RPCRT4.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\GDI32.dll
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\USER32.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\DDRAW.dll
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\DCIMAN32.dll
  C:\WINDOWS\system32\glut32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\WINMM.dll

* Without mno-cygwin
mathgraph.exe:
  C:\Program Files\Cygwin\bin\cygwin1.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ADVAPI32.DLL
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdll.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\KERNEL32.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\RPCRT4.dll
  C:\WINDOWS\system32\GLU32.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcrt.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\OPENGL32.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\GDI32.dll
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\USER32.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\DDRAW.dll
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\DCIMAN32.dll
  C:\WINDOWS\system32\glut32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\WINMM.dll

I would appreciate any help with this.

Thanks in advance,
Arvind
