Is anyone packaging gcal?

I had a look on the packages search for gcal (the GNU calendar program)
and it doesn't seem to be there (it wasn't in the setup.exe list, so I
searched in case it was included in another package). It does build
"out of the box" using gcc, so this wasn't a great hardship, but I was
wondering whether anyone is thinking of packaging it and if not whether
there would be any interest if I packaged it (since it doesn't need any
patches it seems fairly simple to do, and as it's GPL the licence
wouldn't be a problem). I looked at the web pages on packaging, but
didn't see anything which said how you become a packager or maintainer
or whether you need authorisation to upload a package, have I missed
something?
