bash -c behavior

Greetings, Cygwin users,

 From a terminal:

yorick@yorickp1 ~    yorickp1   21:43:48
$bash -c "echo $1" yada

yorick@yorickp1 ~    yorickp1   21:43:52
$bash -c "echo $*" bright sunshiny day

yorick@yorickp1 ~    yorickp1   21:45:54


Shouldn't I have gotten some results on stdout?
