- I was selecting packages; python and automake1.4 were selected
for update.
- I unselected automake (not remembering the last time I used it and
noting there were several newer versions), added perl-Tk and
went forward to install;
- Message said "automake 1.4" was needed by package "automake-stable".
I didn't remember an automake stable, went back to look for the package
I thought I had missed, but couldn't find it. I decided to select
automake 1.9, to see if that version satisifed the dependency.
- Then I noticed a "new" "bashdb" package -- or rather "bashdb3".
I wondered how it compared to "bashdb" and wasn't sure if it varied, but
thought I'd take a look at it. NOTE -- bashdb3 *wasn't* in the package
list the first time I went into the tool (verified this when reproducing
the error). Also strange: bashdb had size "?" (seemingly not a good
sign, now that I think about it; hey, it's late!)
- Selected bashdb3 for install, and that's when the Fatal Application
Error popped up.
(generic drwatson application crash dialog: sorry, your program encountered
a problem and needs to close. We are so so sorry for our lame OS causing
you this inconvenience).

1) output of **cygcheck -s -v -r > cygcheck.out**
2) "appcompat.txt" (file created by Dr. Watson program; seems to be
a list of the DLL's used by setup).
3) (compressed, as mailer wouldn't accept uncompressed version) A dump file for
setup.exe that might have been created by Dr. Watson
(which isn't real helpful in allowing a copy as it locks the file
(like how the registry is locked) and is ostensibly uncopyable. The
portion of the file they allow you to view is "view-only" (no copy/paste,
not resizable, 56 modules listed at 1/page. Dumps of each thread
follow with memory dumps for 4 memory ranges comprising about a memory
range of about 1952KB. (~1.9MB)
