git 1.5.2.2.-1: cloning error

Below is a transcript of what happens when I attempt to clone.  Can
someone suggest what I can do to correct the problem. I've attached
the output from cygcheck -s -v -r.

$ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/git/git.git
