R: Cygwin 1.5 vs. 1.7: tail

the manual says
tail -N +3 /path/to/some/file
probably, the last
$ tail --version
tail (GNU coreutils) 7.0
don't accept any more the previous way.
(how did you handle a file called +3 ?)
