I have tried building gcc-4.2.4 and am getting the same :-
$ /home/ang/src/gcc-4.2.4/configure --prefix=/home/ang/gcc-4.2.4-2

Is this just my system is is anyone else got the same on the new Cygwin 1.7 ?
