  No, you can't actually.  Every Linux distro comes in i386 as well as i686
flavours, which will run just fine on your old hardware - as you already know
perfectly well because you mentioned it yourself earlier in the thread.

  Cygwin OTOH is just too small-scale and simply does not have the resources
to provide multiple arch distributions, so we picked the one that will do the
best for the most people.




  ... also, Get A Real CPU.  Cyrix CPUs suck, and always have!  <runs away>
