x86_64-w64-mingw32-g++ can't find -ldl

"Never" might be a *bit* harsh.  If OP can't easily port the software to
use LoadLibrary and friends, then there is always the dlfcn-win32
wrapper.  A .cygport for x86_64-w64-mingw32 attached.
