core dumps, libgcc and python

Hello,

I am experiencing this issue,

"Python core dump depending on module import"
http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2013-06/msg00204.html

and "python aborts"
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.os.cygwin/139622

which I suppose is caused by

"Crashes inside libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll"
http://www.mail-archive.com/gcc@gcc.gnu.org/msg68316.html

Can I install a stable, old release of the related packages?

I am mainly interested in Python stability, and that the scripts do not
return a bad status code to the calling process;
I can wait for a proper fix for other applications.

Otherwise, I can attemp to build a patched version, but I suppose the
toolchain also needs
rebuilding and I'm not familiar with that.

What is the status of the patches? Have they been approved?

Thanks
